Man Charged With Murder After Woman's Body Found In Car Boot

A man has been charged with murder after a woman's body was found in the boot of a car.

Lee Nolan, 48, is due to appear at Bury Magistrates' Court on Monday, Greater Manchester Police said.

Police were tipped off on Thursday evening that the body was in a blue Nissan NX100 in Heywood, near Rochdale, Greater Manchester.

They spotted a vehicle matching the description on Friday afternoon and gave chase before the car was abandoned in River Street.

Two men - a 48-year-old and a 70-year-old - were detained and, after the body was found in the boot, they were arrested on suspicion of murder.

The 70-year-old has since been released without charge and faces no further action, police said.

A spokesman said the victim has not been yet been identified.

Nolan, of Bamford Road, Heywood, has been remanded in custody ahead of his appearance in court.

Anybody with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 9908 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
