16-Year-Old Stabbed To Death In South London Disturbance

A teenager has been stabbed to death.

The boy, believed to be aged 16, sustained multiple stab wounds in the incident in Canterbury Place, Kennington, south London, at 10.20pm last night.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene at 10.52pm.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "Officers are in the process of informing next of kin. A post-mortem examination and formal identification will take place in due course."

A murder investigation has been launched led by Detective Chief Inspector Graeme Gwyn of the Yard's Homicide and Major Crime Command.

Inquiries are under way to establish the full circumstances, including whether the murder was gang-related.

Mr Gwyn said: "There was a large disturbance in Canterbury Place, during which the victim was fatally injured. I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this disturbance or has any information that may assist the investigation to contact us."

The spokesman said seven males had been arrested in connection with the incident. All are in custody at various south London police stations.
