A dog-owner was left stunned after his Yorkshire Terrier managed to drive his pickup truck into a lake.
Police said that the man put the dog into his vehicle after an incident with another canine, the Independent reported.
But while he spoke with the other dog’s owner, his Yorkie managed to knock the truck into gear.
It wasn’t long before it went rolling into the nearby lake.
The horrified owner could only watch as his Chevrolet Silverado sank into around 10 feet of water, local police said.
A family friend immediately swim in to save the dog - but alas the vehicle was beyond saving.
The canine was not injured in the incident.
The police department in Ellsworth, Maine, wrote on Facebook: “It was a Yorkie, the truck was fully submerged and without the quick response of the family friend the man would have lost his companion.”
