When Todd Herres returned home one night to find his fiance passed out, fast asleep in bed next to a pile of books, he was overcome with a feeling of pride and admiration.
His soon-to-be wife, Eva Alice Webb, is currently studying at college after 20 years away from education. She has raised two children as a single mother and been a victim in two violent relationships - but she powers on.
Herres, 34, is so enamoured by her hard-work and dedication that he simply had to share her story to Imgur.
"My 38 year old girlfriend just started her second quarter of college. She's raised two kids, 15 and 10, on her own, has piss all parents and was the victim in not one but two domestic violence cases.
"This is how I found her tonight."
He added: "I'm so proud of this woman I could burst. We went wedding ring shopping earlier today and I think I'm ready to make the best decision of my life."
He posted the photo to Imgur and the post has now gone viral, with lots of people advising him to marry her, pronto.
Herres added: "Thanks for all the kind words of support you guys! This woman profoundly inspires me and it sounds like she has many of you. Also, I'm gonna take all of y'alls advice and marry the shit out of her."
