Eurovision Song Contest former winners will be reminding the British acts what's called for at the UK national selection show 'Eurovision: You Decide'.
Current Eurovision champion and host for the 2016 ceremony in Sweden, Mans Zelmerlow, will be taking to the stage along with Britain's former winner Katrina. While Mans will be performing his winning song from last year's contest, Katrina's will be the instantly recognisable 1997 winner 'Love Shine A Light'.
Mans Zelmerlow is the present holder of the trophy following his triumph last year for Sweden
This way of deciding the UK entry will be very welcome after the UK's results have proved disappointing in recent years. Katrina was our last winner in 1997. She says: “I can’t believe it has been nearly 20 years since we won the contest, it’s definitely time for another UK win in the competition! Eurovision is a very special event and is something that stays with you forever - it’s always an honour to perform to such passionate crowds and it is a thrill to be doing it again at the UK National Final.”
Katrina won in 1997 with 'Love Shine A Light'
'Bake Off' host Mel Giedroyc will be presenting the 90-minute competition from The O2 Forum Kentish Town. The event will be broadcast live on BBC4 on Friday 26 February, but those wanting to get up close and personal with this year's winning entry can buy tickets from bbc.co.uk/eurovision.
The evening will see six acts compete for the chance to represent the UK. Telephone lines will then open so that the public can choose the song they believe most likely to do us proud in Sweden in May, and avoid the dreaded nul points.
