US comedy drama Gilmore Girls will be revived with the show's original stars, Netflix has confirmed.
The cult favourite, which originally ran from 2000 to 2007, starred Lauren Graham as Lorelai Gilmore and Alexis Bledel as her daughter Rory.
Hawaiian-born Graham posted the news on her official Twitter account.
"I can now confirm: it's time for me, and this jacket I stole in 2007, to return to work.@netflix #GilmoreGirls," her message read.
In an interview with US entertainment site TV Line, she promised fans "some resolution that we didn't get" in the original run.
The 48-year-old added: "I'm really glad. It's a treat to be at this point in my life and experience. I'm not like, 'Oh, this probably happens all the time'.
"I have full appreciation and respect for what this moment is and I'm going to enjoy it as much as possible."
Gilmore Girls centred around the lives and loves of a headstrong single mother and her smart-mouthed teenage child.
Set in the fictional town of Stars Hollow in Connecticut, the series was acclaimed for its winning combination of humour and smart dialogue.
Netflix said original cast members Kelly Bishop (who played Emily Gilmore), Scott Patterson (Luke Danes), Sean Gunn (Kirk Gleason) and Keiko Agena (Lane Kim) will also return to the as-yet-untitled revival.
Gilmore Girls creator and executive producer Amy Sherman-Palladino and executive producer Daniel Palladino will write and direct the new instalment.
This is the latest US series to return to the small screen, following the likes of Heroes (revived as Heroes Reborn) and The X-Files, which has returned with original cast members David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.
