A representative for Zayn subsequently told The Mirror: “Unfortunately there was a scheduling conflict as Zayn is currently in the studio completing his album."
Meanwhile, a source is quoted as telling MailOnline: “Radio 1 has supported Zayn from day one so it’s very disappointing for all the UK fans not to see him.
“They had so many people outside the studios and Greg had some big surprises lined up.”
Nevertheless, he still looks set to top the chart, and is a whopping 23,000 sales ahead of his closest competitor, Jonas Blue.
Last week, on the day of the single’s release, Zayn was due to appear on Nick Grimshaw’s breakfast show and Graham Norton’s BBC1 chat show, however, he pulled out of both appearances.
He hasn’t totally abandoned us in favour of the studio though, and last week he appeared on 1Xtra, Clara Amfo’s Radio 1 show and in a one-off interview with Zane Lowe for Beats 1.
