Rihanna Cancels UK 'Anti' Tour Dates And Postpones US Gigs, Days After Cancelling Grammys Performance Last-Minute

Rihanna Fans Left 'Gutted', As She Cancels UK Tour Dates

It’s not a particularly good week to be a Rihanna fan, as the star has cancelled two of her UK tour dates, just hours after postponing the start of the whole 'Anti' world tour.

The star will no longer be performing at the Stadium Of Light, in Sunderland, or Cardiff's Principality Stadium.

Fans were notified on Friday morning, via email, and a statement has since been posted on Sunderland AFC's website, explaining that the cancellation is due to "logistical reasons beyond the tour's control".

“We still have an exciting summer of events planned at the Stadium of Light however, including the sell-out Beyoncé concert, which everyone is looking forward to.”

A number of Twitter users have also claimed that Rihanna's Coventry gig has been moved to 25 June, though there is no official statement on this.

A number of fans who had tickets have tweeted their disappointment on Twitter:

The tour's start date has also moved, as RiRi was due to kick things off in California on 26 February, but eight dates have been rescheduled, meaning she’ll start performing two weeks later than originally planned.

A rep for the ‘Work’ singer has confirmed to Billboard that “production delays” are the reason for the postponed dates.

The news comes after Rihanna pulled out of a performance at the Grammys on Monday at the last minute.

The singer was expected to arrive on the red carpet at the Staples Center ahead of the event however, she failed to show, and just as Taylor Swift kicked things off, it was announced that Rihanna would not be performing.

TMZ reported that the ‘Diamonds’ singer was suffering from bronchitis, and pulled out on doctor’s orders.

The US rescheduled dates are as follows:

  • 1 May - Phoenix, AZ, Talking Stick Resort Arena
  • 3 May - Los Angeles, CA, Forum
  • 4 May - Los Angeles, CA, Forum
  • 6 May - San Jose, CA, SAP Center
