Climbing the stairs of Rutgers University, New Jersey, can either be an incredibly positive experience, or a pretty depressing one - depending on which you choose.
When you read the lines from top to bottom, it holds a very negative message about how a person cannot make their mark on the world.
But when you flip it and read the lines from bottom to top, it reveals an incredibly positive message.
Despite all of the lines being the same.
"I missed my mark. So don’t convince me that I’ve done something right," it says when you read it from top to bottom.
"When you look closer, the world is an evil place. Even if some good does exist, happiness doesn’t last. And it’s not true that it’s all in your mind. Because we can make an impact.
"As long as there’s good – people seem to agree that the world constructs my future, it’s beyond my ability – and I’ll never believe I’m making my mark."
But if you read it from bottom to top, it says: "I’m making my mark and I’ll never believe it’s beyond my ability. My future constructs the world.
"People seem to agree that as long as there’s good we can make an impact, because it’s all in your mind and it’s not true that happiness doesn’t last.
"Some good does exist even if the world’s an evil place. When you look closer I’ve done something right. So don’t convince me that I missed my mark."
