Kate's Indian-Inspired Style Gets Thumbs Up From Fashionistas

The Duchess of Cambridge has showcased an Indian designer on the first day of the royal tour of India with a pastel summer dress.

Kate, accompanied by the Duke of Cambridge, donned a floaty print dress by Anita Dongre as her second outfit of the day as the couple visited the Oval Maidan in Mumbai.

Indian fashion writer Manish Mishra said: "She looked pretty at Oval Maidan in an Anita Dongre dress, fresh off the runway, inspired by the royal palaces of Rajasthan.

"The outfit has a touch of royal regalia and also says - 'Indian summer'. Perfect for a day outing."

The belted dress was paired with nude wedges, silver chandelier earrings and topped off with black Ray-Ban sunglasses.

Fashionistas are eagerly awaiting Kate's choice of outfit for this evening.

"I'd love to see her in an Indian sari, or a salwar kameez," Mr Mishra said.

"Since she's favoured beaded Temperley London dresses in the past, it'll be amazing to see her in a Monisha Jaising sari gown or a kurti dress."

Carly Brook, director of London School of Styling, said: "She is someone who definitely does her research before she visits a place and she is always spot-on culturally.

"I would love to see her in a sari, she has a great figure and I would love to see her work it.

"I'm sure she's got something up her sleeve."

Kate chose a red paisley print peplum blouse and matching skirt by Alexander McQueen for her first outfit of the day.

The bespoke ensemble, which will be available to buy later this year, combined British couture with Indian colour and pattern.

She accessorised with a £165 beige clutch by Russell & Bromley and £195 nude heels by LK Bennett.

Her hair was styled in her classic blow dry with gold statement earrings by Temple of Heaven worth £1,495.
