The family of a 15-year-old boy who died after he was hit by a train said he was a loving son and brother who will be dearly missed.
British Transport Police said Kieran Ash, from Chester-le-Street, County Durham, was killed when he was hit by a train in the vicinity of Birtley Junction, near Newcastle, at 7.10am on Monday.
His family released a statement which said: "Kieran was a loving son and brother to the whole family. We are devastated by the news and Kieran will be dearly missed by all who knew him.”

British Transport Police said there were no suspicious circumstances and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
