Parachutist Seriously Injured Landing In Housing Estate

A seriously injured parachutist was flown to hospital after she landed in a housing estate, an ambulance spokesman said.

The North East Ambulance Service said it received a call at around 3.45pm to Shotton Colliery, County Durham.

The Great North Air Ambulance Service flew the woman to the James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, from the scene.

It was understood the patient was seriously injured in the incident.

The ambulance service said it sent two ambulances and a trauma team to the scene.
