I Am No Party Girl, Pippa Middleton Insists As She Publishes Cookbook

Pippa Middleton has insisted she is not a "party girl without any substance" as she revealed how being part of the extended Royal family has affected her life.

The columnist, author and fundraiser sought to dispel any reputation she may have for being a socialite, stressing: "That word really irritates me".

The 33-year-old was once the subject of ridicule after she released a book on party planning including tips, among other advice, to eat breakfast and provide water for guests.

"I believed in it and can't blame anyone else, but maybe it might have been better if I had waited a bit longer before doing it," she told the Daily Mail.

Ahead of her second release, a cookbook for British Heart Foundation featuring healthy recipes from sports stars, Ms Middleton said she hopes the latest offering will change any negative perceptions about her.

"People see me as someone privileged who has used my position to advantage; that I don't really work, that I am a socialite — that word really irritates me — and that I'm a party girl without any substance," she said.

Along with parents Carole and Michael, Ms Middleton's life, both public and private, has attracted global attention.

Millions watched as she performed bridesmaid duties for sister Kate, 34, as she married Prince William in 2011.

Ms Middleton described having to develop "quite a thick skin" to deal with the glare that can occasionally be "unnerving".

"I guess it's become the new normal for us. It means there are factors we have to weigh up and think about, but we try not to let it affect us," she said.

"I try not to be too sensitive about things because it's just a bit of life I have to deal with. But I would be lying if I said it didn't affect me."

After winning a sports scholarship to the prestigious Marlborough College as a youngster, Ms Middleton went on to study English literature at Edinburgh University.

As well as her work as a writer, the fitness fanatic has completed a 3,000-mile charity bike ride across the US with her fiance, James Matthews, 41, and her brother, James, 29.

She combines both her interests for the cookbook, Heartfelt, which includes recipes from tennis titan Roger Federer and Olympic medal winning triathlon brothers Alistair and Jonny Brownlee.
