Royal fans eagerly awaiting a glimpse of Prince Harry with his new girlfriend Meghan Markle have been left disappointed after the pair's much mooted public appearance failed to materialise.
It was widely speculated the American actress would join Harry at England's clash against South Africa in his role as vice patron of the Rugby Football Union on Saturday - but he attended alone.
And at the Cenotaph, as the prince fulfilled his duties and paid his respects on Remembrance Sunday, he also undertook the official engagement alone.
The prince and his beau are yet to appear publicly together but that hasn't stopped bookies Coral suspending betting on a Christmas proposal for the pair.
His relationship with Ms Markle, which began in the summer, was officially confirmed on Tuesday by his communications secretary, Jason Knauf.
The strongly-worded statement described the ''wave of abuse and harassment'' she has experienced since news of their relationship broke, leaving the prince "worried" about her safety.
On Sunday bookmakers Coral were offering odds of just 8-11 for the 32-year-old former soldier to get down on one knee and pop the question to the US actress before betting was called off.
Nicola McGeady, from the bookmakers, said: "Punters were quick to back a royal engagement when the prince officially announced their relationship, but today's gamble is the biggest indicator yet that a royal wedding is on the cards, so we have decided to pull the plug on the market for now."
Despite this, the 1-2 odds of Ms Markle moving to Britain permanently by the end of the year, and the 5-1 probability of the pair announcing they are having a baby in 2017, still stand.
The US actress was photographed on Thursday walking towards the grounds of Kensington Palace where Prince Harry lives following a shopping trip in the nearby exclusive high street.
But it has since been reported she flew back to Toronto that day.
