ITV's The Nightly Show could return for a second season after bosses weigh up the "pros and cons".
Creators said that a future run of the weekday chat show would likely be aired during a later timeslot.
It follows a wave of criticism triggered when the show first launched, pushing the channel's regular 10pm news programme back by half an hour.
But as the widely slated series enters its sixth out of eight scheduled weeks on screens, no decision has been made about its future.
An ITV source told The Sun: "Pros and cons will be weighed up, the likelihood of a second series depends on that.
"Moving the time is one option being looked at, depending on whether or not it returns.
"No decision has been made on its future."
A spokeswoman added that creators have no plans to make a decision until the entire series has been broadcast.
While viewer ratings dropped from 2.9 million to 1.3 million after the first episode with host David Walliams, The Nightly Show has since seen a steady audience.
Monday night's show, the first to be presented by TV chef Gordon Ramsay, drew in an audience of 1.5 million.
His stint finale on Friday, which included a mock apology to Jamie Oliver following a week of jibes, was watched by 1.1 million people, with a viewer share of 7%.
Other presenters in between included John Bishop, Davina McCall and Dermot O'Leary, with Bradley Walsh taking over next week.
