A man has been charged with murder after an ex-Royal Navy officer was run down and killed by car thieves.
Mike Samwell, 35, from Chorlton, Manchester, died in the early hours of Sunday April 23.
Ryan Gibbons, 29, of Steven Court, Egerton Road South, Chorlton, has been charged with murder and has been remanded in custody to appear before Manchester Magistrates' Court on Saturday, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.
Gibbons has also been charged with burglary and aggravated vehicle-taking.
At around 3am on Sunday, police were called to an address on Cranbourne Road to reports that Mr Samwell had been hit by his own car as he tried to stop thieves from stealing it.
Mr Samwell, who served 12 years in the Royal Navy, was taken to hospital for treatment but died a short time later.
A 15-year-old boy from south Manchester previously arrested on suspicion of murder and burglary has been bailed pending further inquiries.
Two men aged 20 and 21 who were arrested on suspicion of murder and burglary have also been bailed pending further inquiries.
