Following a fierce campaign from style-watchers (us included) - indignant that the retrospective exhibit was chosen to be shown in the US, as opposed to the designer's home country - event organisers have now confirmed that they are looking into potential venues in the capital.

And the Victoria & Albert Museum has already declared interest in playing host...

"The V&A is very keen to hold an exhibition of McQueen's work," said a spokesperson yesterday. "We have spoken to the fashion house about it as we know there is a huge audience for it here in Britain, but there are no plans at the moment."

Savage Beauty was the 8th most popular exhibit in the New York Met Museum's 140-year history, with over 650,000 visitors.

"Alexander McQueen appreciates the huge amount of interest the public has shown towards the Savage Beauty exhibition," reads a statement issued by the fashion house. "We have been in discussion with a number of major venues in London for some time now, however nothing has been finalised."

We're keeping our fingers crossed...
