"If you’re an ‘I-must-mop-up-the-alcohol-from-last-night-or-else-I-shall-die’ type of person but the local greasy spoon no longer cuts it, this is the place for you," says traffic and trends editor Sara Nelson.

"The ‘Turkish’ eggs served with whipped yoghurt and hot chilli butter have saved my life on more than one occasion."

"At the top of Heron Tower, this really is a room with a view. And what better place to have brunch than looking over the whole of London," says Brogan Driscoll, HuffPost UK Lifestyle.

"At £14, it's probably the most expensive English breakfast this side of lunchtime, but you won't really give a crap because the view is worth every penny - and the food is pretty good too. If you get in that is, booking is a bit of a nightmare."

She adds: "Wild mushrooms, gruyère, truffle, soldiers is my breakfast of choice."

"Although the last thing you might want to do on a Sunday morning is stand in a queue for breakfast the wait is sooo worth it," says Caoimhe O'Reilly, consumer marketing manager.

"For me this place offers everything a breakfast should, amazing bacon, eggs, pancakes and a fantastic 80s theme.

"Hash browns like you’ve never seen them before and the world’s smallest Strawberry Shortcake disco loo. I can’t recommend this place enough."

"This is no namby-pampy eggs and orange juice brunch, this is the kind of brunch that should take three hours and end with you tottering away unsteadily from the table," says Poorna Bell, editor of HuffPost UK Lifestyle.

"The surroundings are classy - think typical high-ceilinged five-star restaurant - which makes it perfect for a romantic or a girly special occasion, and the food is spread out in a vast buffet.

Delicate twirls of salmon, mountains of fresh couscous salads, platters of good cheese are my favourites. Make sure you leave room for pudding though - all those delicate mini desserts and dainty chocolates will turn your eyes into saucer-plates."

She added: "It might seem a little pricy, but considering most afternoon teas are eye-wateringly expensive, £50 for never-ending fizzy wine and food is bang on."

"Try their trademark blue Cotswold Legbar eggs with merguez sausage, in the delicious spicy North African shakshuka (pictured). Mop up the juicy goodness with sour dough bread."

"A popular attraction at various pop-up events last summer keep your eye on their website to see where they will be frying/poaching/scrambling next."

Village East(08 of11)

Food is great, but the setting is better.

Set in a listed warehouse, the recently-refurbished interior of Village East is mix of cosy leather-seated booths, soft lighting and exposed brick work.

The Bloody Mary and Cucumber Mary (replace tomato juice with cucumber) are perfect for the weekend hangover, while the campfire breakfast (slow-roasted pork shoulder, baked beans and fried eggs) is the perfect comforting meal for the morning-after-the-night-before.

The vegetarian breakfast has a bizarre twist (we've never eaten eggs with carrot and quinoa before, but it takes all sorts), but the fresh grapefruit offers a light and refreshing end to a great brunch experience.

"Electric Diner's breakfast of quinoa, avocado, green beans and poached egg holds a special place in my heart -- not only is it bloody delicious, but sets the day up pretty nicely," says Brogan Driscoll, HuffPost UK Lifestyle.

"Located in the heart of busy Portobello Market - the outside seating area is perfect for people watching, the inside is perfect for hiding from the crowds.

"Low lighting, exposed brick work, red-seated booths - even at its busiest, it still feels pretty private."

"Try the Beef Shin Hash washed down with Glasss of Prosecco. If you are lucky, you can also catch their in-house Mariachi band."

"Located in the uber trendy Granary Square in a Grade II listed Victorian Grain Store, the high ceilings and open kitchen make for a bustling dining experience.

"The menu offers an eclectic mix of old brunch favourites as well as more left-field options such as grilled ham, fried duck egg, chilli tamarind glaze, sweet potato crisps, or potato waffle, buttermilk dressing, parmesan crisp, dill, chives.

"The baked eggs, tomato pepper ragout, greek yoghurt, toast, merguez sausage are also a must.

"If you’re drinking, their Bloody Mary’s are top notch, otherwise the green juice is perfect for those wanting a more healthy option.

"Yum."
