A terminally ill teenager who has inspired nearly 24,000 Twitter fans with her bucket list of wishes has enjoyed an early Christmas.

Alice Pyne, 16, who suffers from Hodgkin's lymphoma, held a family festive day with her parents Vicky and Simon on Saturday.

They had a tree, opened presents, watched Christmas films, listened to carols and ate a roast.

"It's not that we don't expect her to reach Christmas, it's just because we don't know where we will be," said Vicky.

"It has become our little tradition. Two years ago we didn't know if we would get a proper Christmas with her, so we thought we'll have one early.

"We don't believe in being miserable. Last year was the second time, but we really believed last year would be the last and, lo and behold, here we are."

Alice, from Ulverston, Cumbria, completed her bucket list in August when her parents surprised her with a holiday to Canada to watch whales. She has met Take That and entered her pet Mabel in a dog show.

She writes regular updates on her blog Alice's Bucket List.
