Wolf-whistling lads get an unwelcome shock in this brilliant video when they realise the women they are harassing are their own mothers - and they are not pleased with their sons' behaviour.

'Would you like someone to say that your mother?' is a common rebuttal to men who make lewd comments to strange women in public. So the makers of this video decided to show what might happen if these catcallers unwittingly directed their unwanted attentions to their own mothers.

The clip shows the mums getting a makeover, complete with wig and form-fitting clothes, before walking past their sons in the street.

"Tasty panties!" calls one grinning lad. But his smile soon fades as he realises that the woman in question is actually his mum - and she has a few (hundred) choice words for him about his treatment of women.

Another lad caught red-handed shouting 'Piggy!' at a woman who turns out to be his mum transforms into a squirming little boy once he's been collared. "It wasn't me, it was the guy in the van!" he pleads as his unimpressed mother launches into a tirade.

Of course, you might be thinking that it's all staged a little too perfectly, from the dramatic wig removal to the dragging away by the ear, you're right.

The viral video is in fact an advert for a joint campaign between sporting goods company Everlast and Paremos el Acoso Callejero (Stop Street Harassment), an activist group which aims to tackle the problem of sexual harassment of women in Latin America.

'Seven out of 10 women are harassed in the streets of Lima', the video explains. It ends with an ominous warning: 'If you harass women, don't wait for us to make you harass your own mother to start respecting them'.
