Are you ready for the year of the sheep? Are you ready for rampaging dragons? It’s that time of year where Chinatown throws a massive parade, we all get full of too many dumplings and crowds fill the streets to see wild dragon dancers. That’s right, it’s nearly Chinese New Year.

This year we’re putting a firecracker under Chinese Year celebrations by partnering with Amoy to prove that anyone can create great-tasting Asian cuisine, with a fierce cook off that sees three teams pitted against each other in a bid to become street food entrepreneurs and win a gastronomic trip of a lifetime to Hong Kong. We’re also bringing you a full rundown of what’s going on across the UK for New Year along with some great recipes to help you get in the mood.

In the lead up to Chinese New year on February 19, the Feasts on the Street cook off sees three teams of abject amateurs take Amoy recipes, combine them with fresh ingredients and slog it out in a fury of woks, soy and steam to deliver the best-tasting dishes as judged by Masterchef winner, Shelina Permalloo.

Watch each week as our amateur cooks learn the basics of modern Asian cooking in and see who develops the skill to become champion of Amoy Feasts on the Street. Check back at the end of February to see who comes out on top and takes out the big prize.

February 19 is of course Chinese New Year, and the UK knows how to do Chinese New Year well. Some say we have the biggest celebrations outside China, so we will give you the low down on where to celebrate, where to see the best dragon and where across the country you can enjoy the best fresh modern Asian food on a budget. If you feel passionate about that last one, we’re opening up a reader poll so you can vote for your favourite. Beef and black bean in Blackpool? Kim chi in Canning Town? Get your voting finger at the ready, and make sure your local Asian specialist comes out on top.

Street food has been the great equalizer in giving everyone access to amazing, healthy modern Asian food, so we’re looking at who’s doing it well, and where and what you’ll be eating in 2015. Is it the year of the kim chi taco, spicy betel leaf pockets or bubble tea? We’ll find out and let you know.

Here’s to a delicious month of tasty modern Asian food for Chinese New Year here on Huffington Post.
