A man who used his wife's urine sample to try to cheat a drugs test got the surprise of his life when he found out she was pregnant.

The Egyptian bus driver feared losing his living when he faced a mandatory drugs test.

So instead of giving a his own pee, he persuaded his wife to provide a sample of her own.

Before revealing the news, officials asked the driver to confirm that the sample was his own.

When he nodded, they then floored him, telling him: "Congratulations, you're pregnant."

Two months, in fact!

You can only imagine his mixed reaction: the good news is you're going to be a dad; the bad is that you're BUSTED!

A presenter on an Egyptian political talk show reckons that lessons can be learnt from this hysterical attempt at deception.

Tamer Amin told the BBC: "This story despite being funny has several lessons.

"First, that drugs have become available to many and have become as common as cigarettes. This is a calamity."

In future, the transport authority will require a blood test as well as urine tests to prevent people giving fake samples.

The Egyptian transport authority will now have to provide a blood test as well as a urine sample.

Driving whilst under the influence of drugs and alcohol is considered a large-scale issue in Egypt, with over 12,000 people killed on the country's roads every year.
