The Duchess of Cambridge gave crinkle-effect dresses an instant comeback when she stepped out in a cobalt blue number last night.

Attending the 2015 Fostering Excellence Awards at the British Medical Association House in London, she chose a £555 dress by Indian designer Saloni, cinched with a slim belt. She kept her accessories discreet with a small Mulberry clutch, black suede heels and gold jewellery.

But props go to Kate for her hairdo - the failsafe half-up half-down do, softened with ringlets.

Fashion-wise, the Duchess is in good company - Saloni's designs have been worn by Emma Watson, Poppy Delevingne, Princess Beatrice and Olivia Palermo. Carey Mulligan wore the same dress in fact.

The designer started the brand in 2011 and currently resides in Hong Kong.

Her passion for clothing began at an early age and her grandfather owned a fabric shop. After spotting a gap in the market for dresses between high street and high end prices, she opened up a pop-up boutique with her own designs.

On her website she is quoted as saying: "I always keep in mind my Indian heritage while designing but don’t translate it literally into our clothes. I think the way we as a brand celebrate bold colours and patterns is our way of bringing the spirit of India into the collections”.

You can currently buy her clothes on Matches.com, at one of the 50 stockists around the world or through her website.
