A 23-year-old teacher downloaded pictures of her friend's baby from Facebook and tried to con her ex-boyfriend into believing he had fathered a set of twins.

A disciplinary hearing heard yesterday that Victoria Jones was so furious that Daniel Barberini, 26, had dumped her, that she pretended she'd given birth to his TWINS, Harrison and Keira.

Her web of deceit continued as she told Barberini that the boy twin Harrison had died, and she was now in Australia with Keira.

Her lies were found out when Barberini showed pictures of 'Keira' to a friend - who knew the baby's real mother, recognised the little girl and told Barberini that the mother was not Victoria Jones.

Jones did not attend the General Teaching Council hearing in Cardiff, where she stands accused of three charges of unacceptable professional misconducts, which she denies. She admits taking the photos from Facebook.

The hearing was told that parents at Ringland Primary School in Newport, Gwent where she taught had "lost trust" in her and the school after the events.

Jones had left her job in August last year when police investigated the claims.

Colin Adkins, representing Miss Jones, said: "Any right-minded person would consider her actions as wrong but they were conducted in her private life."

The hearing continues.
