A dying mum fulfilled her last wish of dancing with her son at his wedding three days before she passed away from cancer.

Guests at Ryan Manning's reception were moved to tears when his terminally ill mum Mary Ann summoned all her strength to rise from her wheelchair and hold her son as 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' filled the room.

After the emotional dance, Mary Ann's family rushed to hug and kiss her.

Mary Ann, 61, from Dublin, California, lost her battle with breast cancer three days later, on Monday, September 8.

Story continues after video...

In her obituary, published in the Dublin Patch, Mary Ann's family posted a heartbreaking video of her mother's dance with Ryan on YouTube.

Their accompanying message read: "Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend was a loving force who shared her kindness and spirit with those around her. Her devotion to her family filled her life with laughter and sorrow but no sorrow was greater than the passing of her son, Kyle.

"Diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer shortly after Kyle's passing, who would believe the family could withstand any more pain.

"Mary Ann's strength, determination, and stubbornness helped her to succeed in her one last goal; to dance at her son's wedding just 3 days before her passing.

"Love and support then and now will keep the family strong but it is the memory of Mary Ann that will push them forward and continue to make new memories. We will never forget your love and promise to keep you smiling and proud of all your achievements. May the rainbows follow you forever."
