Dylan Rieder Dead Age 28: Skateboarder And Model Loses Battle With Cancer

Dylan Rieder has died from cancer at the age of 28.

The world-famous professional skateboarder and model passed away due to complications due to complications from leukemia on Wednesday 12 October, surrounded by family and friends.

“His passion for life, art, music, fashion and skateboarding has always been contagious. Dylan will be remembered by all as a loving son, brother and friend,” a representative for Rieder’s family said in an official statement.

There has been an outpouring of tributes from fans, friends and colleagues - including Cara Delevingne, who posed alongside Rieder for DKNY’s spring 2014 campaign.

“One of the kindest, most down to down, incredible human beings I have ever encountered,” Delevingne captioned the below photo.

“You will be so missed by so many people. Ride and Rest In Peace Dylan Rieder.”

Editor of Transworld Skateboarding, Blair Alley, called Rieder “the most influential” younger skateboarder, in an interview with GrindTV - revealing he also inspired a huge skate style movement.

“He brought the whole ‘high water jeans and tucked in shirts look he got from the fashion world into skateboarding,” Alley said.

“That look caught on like wildfire - it’s still a popular look today. That speaks to Dylan’s influence.”
