Open Image Modal"Grandparents are so important in our boys' lives. We are so blessed that grandparents on both sides of our families are alive and healthy. Like many grandparents, especially ours, family is important but grandkids are their ultimate joy! They look forward to seeing them and catching up with them on everything. Having grandparents around gives our boys a sense of how we were raised and who we’ve become. Sharing stories from the past is something my boys love to hear, especially what we were like growing up. Believe it or not, we were once defiant and irresponsible even with our own parents! Although my husband and I grew up in two different cultures (Chinese vs. Irish Catholic), the importance of family remains the same for both of us. Distance is what keeps us from seeing family more frequently and it seems that holidays are the only time we get to spend with them. So the time spent with their grandparents are of great importance because we never know how many more years we have to enjoy them." -- Christina O'Neill (credit:Christina O'Neill)

Open Image Modal"This woman, my mother: Battling cancer for the second time. Just had major surgery with complications and setbacks. Out of hospital for barely over a WEEK and determined to do an anniversary shoot with her husband and grandkids. Packed up her mother's china and dad's hat to pay tribute (they both lost their battles with cancer) and headed to the beach. And the most amazing thing??? I get to call her Mom. So proud of you mama. And the amazing man with her? My dad. So strong and so gentle at the same time. Devoted to her, his children, his grandchildren. Loves generously, lives a life of example. I could not have asked for a better dad. It is my PRIVILEGE to take these photos for you. Love you so much, always your little girl, Katie." (credit:Katie Horst)
