A mother who saw her five-year-old being abducted from outside their home chased the suspect and crashed her vehicle into his car.

Police say the drama unfolded on Wednesday evening when the woman saw her child being forced into a car in North Valley, Albuquerque, New Mexico.

She jumped into her car and chased him for about seven miles, unaware the man had pushed the girl out of the car shortly after grabbing her. The girl wasn't injured.

The mum followed the suspect and finally rammed into his car near a junction and he ran away.

The girl was one of two who were abducted from the same apartment complex within a week and Albuquerque police have said they want to talk to a man called David Jesus Hernandez, 31.

They are still searching for the man, who they say matches the description of a suspect who sexually assaulted and returned a girl in the same neighborhood last week. Hernandez has not been charged but is wanted for questioning. "

At this point in time it appears to be a complete stranger abduction," said APD Chief Ray Schultz.

"It appears to be no relation that we've been able to determine from either the mother or any witnesses."

The kidnapper was described by witnesses as a man in his late 20s of either Hispanic or Native American descent, wearing jeans and a black T-shirt.
