LG has unveiled the 'G2', its new flagship Android smartphone.

The G2 has a full HD, 5.2-inch screen, is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and features a unique form factor, with exceptionally thin 0.1-inch bezels and the volume and camera buttons on the reverse of the device.

The G2 is intended to compete with top-end phones like the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One, as well as Apple's iPhone 5.

The G2 will be launched on more than 130 networks around the world, with a UK release to come within the next eight weeks. We don't have a price, but the phone comes in black or white variants.

Its specs include:

The G2 also comes with a number of software tweaks and innovations, which include 'Answer Me', in which the phone knows when you raise it to your ear and answers incoming calls automatically.

It also comes with 'Guest Mode', in which you can lend the device to a friend, 'QuickRemote' for operating your (preferably LG) TV and Text Link, which guesses what you want to do with bits of text.

"Our definition of innovation today is technology that truly resonates with consumers," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, who welcomed the guests to the event. "We have always listened to and learned from consumers in pursuit of innovation. We took these insights to new heights in developing LG G2, the most exciting and ambitious mobile phone in our company's history."
