The busy food market in Shoreditch is more than just a street food market. It stretches indoors and outdoors with a diverse range of cuisines. Prices start from around £3 for a small lunch, like the mini British fish and chips in a cone for only £3.50 from Fins and Trotters or a filthy but delicious cheeseburger for only £4.

Brick lane is known for popular food stalls such as The Rib Man who sells braised rib buns with his own spicy sauce or the Naan Wraps selling chicken or lamb inside a warm naan bread with coriander and mint toppings. Other food stalls on offer include veg and meat paella, hot dogs, pulled pork burgers, as well as sweet things such as homemade brownies and cakes.

Aside from the busy street food vendors there is also Beigel bake, the infamous bakery selling Jewish-style filled bagels such as salt beef and smoked salmon - and it always has a queue outside. Walk slightly down and the black cab coffee company sells delicious coffee and iced coffee from a cab.

Brick lane is a fun place to be but it can get very crowded on the weekends. The market is full with street entertainers and things going on so even though the food is great, that's not all you go for.

Just a hop, skip and a jump from London Bridge tube, Borough Market is jam-packed with everything a foodie could ever want or need. From hot food stalls - check out the Spanish cuisine from Brindisa - to more artisan stalls offering up delicious goods such as olives, meats, spices and fine cheeses - you could seriously spend hours here.

When it comes to price, a lot of the stalls are not half bad. They're not super cheap but we are in London after all and you get what you pay for... quality food.

Avoid the market on a Saturday if you can as you won't be able to move around much and you won't be able to take in all of the delights on offer. Go with an empty stomach and prepare to be delighted.

Although the gentrification of Brixton market is sad - there's a Champagne and fromagerie, for flips sake! - it is still one of the best places for Okonomiyaki and pulled pork burgers.

The buzz and atmosphere on a Saturday afternoon is still delightful and stick around until the evening and you may be lucky enough to catch a live band in one of the aisles.

If you're looking for somewhere to eat while out and about in the West End head to Berwick Street for a refreshing change to the usual chain establishments dotted along Oxford Street.

Whether you fancy a burrito, salad, hotdog, noodles, or a burger, there will be something to tickle your fancy all at around the £5 to £6 mark - and while you're there don't miss the opportunity to pick up some fresh stems from the oldest flower market stall in London.

Cool dads, dog-mums and the ubiquitous ex-hipsters populating East London on a Sunday morning all flock down early, so don't leave it too late if you're after a table booking.

Pop by Mission Marisco for gluten-free fish tacos, Tiosk for superfood salad bowls, or pay a visit to the UK's only paleo street food stall, Feed Me Primal. The coffee at Climpson & Sons is some of the best we've tried, even if it does describe itself as "artisan" (we are in Hackney, after all).
