Mother Updates Tattoo To Better Represent Her Transgender Son

When Steve and Lindsay Pearce's transgender son came out to them, they decided to mark his transition in the best way.

Lindsay is tattooed with various portraits of her children, but Ace's was in desperate need of an update. So her husband, who is also a tattoo artist, decided to get to work and make Lindsay's tattoo better represent their son.

The tattoo, which originally showed Ace in a pink dress and pigtails, has been updated to show him in a blue T-shirt, shorts and his current hairstyle.

Steve posted a picture of the tattoo to Facebook and it has warmed the hearts of people all over the world.

He wrote: "This tattoo is on my wife. She has mini portraits of all of our kids that are 10 years old and all need a little going over. As our oldest child Ace is FTM transgender we need to update the tattoo to fully represent who he is in his happy new awesome life."

Speaking to HuffPost Alberta, Steve explained that the couple kept the tattoo update a secret until it was finished: "He loved it. Every step we have in this journey of ours he just gets happier and happier."

The photo, picturing the before-and-after shots side-by-side, was posted to Immaculate Concept Tattoo and the response has been overwhelmingly positive

One Facebook user wrote: "This is beyond beautiful! Warms me to the core that you did such an amazing thing for not only your wife, but your son as well!!"

Another wrote: "Wow! What an amazing way to honour your son for who he is! Absolutely brilliant!"
