Police have launched a campaign on social networking sites to find the mother of a baby who was found dead in Lancashire.

The Facebook advertising campaign to find the baby boy's mother has been launched on Facebook, with a direct appeal showing on Lancashire Police's YouTube channel.

The police chose to appeal on Facebook and YouTube as the sites are 'part of people's everyday lives'.

"By using them, we can reach people, and maybe even the mother herself, that we haven't before," says Det Insp Martin Clague.

"Our main priority is still to trace the mother of the baby boy and we would urge her to come forward so that we can offer them the support they may need."

The body of the baby boy, who was believed to be full-term, was found on 1st October near the Boys Brigade Club on Carr Lane in Kirkham.
