It would be silly not to immerse ourselves in the heritage of Scottsdale, and let’s face it, we all love a jean clad cowboy a la John Wayne. Surrounded by desert and rocky outcrops, the best way to experience this incredible landscape is atop a horse, like all those cowboys before you. So, grab your trusty steed and spend an afternoon riding through the arid landscape. Finish up by heading to The Rusty Spur Saloon for an ice cold beer. You might just be mistaken for a local.

As we said, there’s more to Scottsdale than its saloon style bars and cowboy roots. Now it is home to some seriously chic bars, most of which have incredible sweeping views across the Sonoran Desert and the rocky National Park. How about sipping on an innovative cocktail with the bright lights of Scottsdale shining behind you? Or, head up to the 15th Floor of the Talking Stick Resort and spend an evening drinking martinis and listening to jazz. If that’s not off the beaten track enough for you, go to Citizen R+D and experience a drink that’s coined ‘shipwrecked’; liquor made from salt water cured barrels. Didn’t expect to see that from Scottsdale, did you?
