'Boys Over 6 Use Men's Restroom': Toilet Sign Sparks Online Fury Among Parents

This Toilet Sign Is Making Parents Pretty Angry
|

A controversial sign in a public bathroom has sparked a heated online debate among parents.

The sign, which was photographed by Oklahoma City Mom's Blog and posted to Facebook, asks boys aged over 6 to use the men's toilets instead of the ladies'.

Understandably it has caused wide-spread debate: At what age is it safe for children to go to the bathroom on their own? When do children become too old to use the bathroom of the opposite sex?

"All moms should just march into the men's room and stand there while their boy uses the restroom. Once this happens about a dozen times they will change their policy," wrote one mum.

Another wrote: "I do let my boys go on ( 5 yrs), but they have to sing loud enough for me to hear them the entire time they are in there. I know if I can't hear them, something is wrong and that is my sign to go in. The added bonus of this is all of the men laughing as they come out."

One woman had the perfect solution: "I'd say build a family restroom so parents don't have to worry about an age limit."

It isn't the first time toilets have been hot topic among parents of late. On International Women's Day, Ashton Kutcher stood up for father's equal parenting rights by demanding more nappy-changing facilities in men's toilets.

"There are NEVER diaper changing stations in men's public restrooms," he wrote. "The first public men's room that I go into that has one gets a free shout out on my FB page! #BeTheChange"

My now almost 11 year old with her PawPaw who isn't with us anymore. He sat like that with her all night she had bad gas as a baby and her tummy was hurting. Lying like that seemed to help so he rocked her all night. One of my favorite pictures of my daddy and my baby. (credit:Teri Greene)
