A son recognised his mum on CCTV-footage of a bank raid and reported her to the police.

WWMT.com reports that Dee Ann Sanders, 53, was spotted on the news by her son who then tipped police off.

Sanders is now due to appear in court accused of raiding the Bank of America in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she allegedly handed a teller a note demanding $2,500 for her children and grandchildren before making off with little over a thousand.

Footage shows the robber wearing a bright red T-shirt with a large American flag on the front.

After the images of the raid were released, several other callers identified Sander as the culprit, FBI special agent Adam Van Deuren told reporters.

She was eventually picked up near her son's house less than a mile from the scene of the crime.

Mr Van Deuren said that Sanders admitted to robbing the bank during an interview with the FBI and a Kent County sheriff's officers.

"Sanders further stated that she was stressed about problems with her husband, causing her to have crack-cocaine addiction-related urges," he added.
