Sony's PC arm has been in trouble for a while as worldwide PC sales dwindle at the expense of smartphone and tablet sales.

A such they've taken the drastic measure of completely selling off VAIO to Japan Industrial Partners (JIP).

One final VAIO range under Sony is to go on sale but the deal with JIP should be done by the end of March this year.

Sony has said it will honour any VAIO aftercare warranties.

Unfortunately for the Sony workforce this will result in the loss of 5,000 jobs worldwide.

Sony has also announced they are to reform their TV division and make it a standalone entity by June.

The TV arm will focus on top-of-the-range and 4K super hi-def sets.
