Idyllic Island Retreats: Constance Ephelia, Seychelles

A little slice of Indian Ocean heaven, Constance Ephelia is the picture perfect beach retreat that doesn't disappoint. Our journey to the Seychelles is not direct, and somewhat tiring but on arrival the WOW factor and immediate air of calm and relaxation out-weighs the jet lag.

The idyllic resort is set amongst a 120-hectare stunningly lush landscape, white sand beaches and crystal clear waters. Views from the newly renovated spa are breathtaking...

The Room

Spa Villa. A spacious and contemporary two bed villa with a private lap pool. The large master bedroom enjoys views out to the pool, with just a few steps separating. There's huge bathroom and dressing area which leads to the second bedroom (in our case this was configured as a his and hers private treatment room). Extra features included a high tech spa shower with inbuilt steam room and a sauna room.

The Spa

Recently renovated to an extremely high standard, and run by a dedicated husband and wife team who live on site, the U Spa by Constance is comprised of around 20 individual huts set in tropical gardens amongst an array of relaxation pools and water features. In the centre sits a beautiful yoga pavilion enjoying uninterrupted views out to the lush mountains. There's even a kid's spa menu including mini massage, facial and mani/pedi for children aged 6 and above. Spa facilities include a dry heat sauna, steam room, thermal pool, Jacuzzi, and Kneipp foot path.

The Treatment

The Kuroho Body Bliss is total body replenishment, starting with a thorough scrub followed by a massage where the skilled therapists work with you to understand what your body needs - you literally end up floating out of the room... Other treatments include The Deluxe Shiseido Facial & Body Collection, Ayurvedic Massage, and Aftersun Repair Wrap. Many of the therapies incorporate natural ingredients and are customised to guests wellbeing preferences, with a choice of relaxation, rejuvenation, detox, and cleansing packages.

Activities

Cycling is encouraged to get from one side of the resort to the other, there is also a watersports centre right on the beach from which you can organize a scuba diving session. Rent a snorkel and mask and you do not have to venture far into the crystal clear sea to be rewarded with a rainbow of incredible fish. The huge zip wire that runs through the forest is an exciting attraction for both children and adults, and there are climbing walls, tennis, windsurfing, diving and nature trails upon request. Early morning yoga is also a must, classes range from advanced to beginners so suitable for all - even for complete novices. There's also a fantastic kids club with indoor and outdoor play areas.

To Eat

Restaurants range from buffet-style International cuisine, Mediterranean relaxed family dining, traditional local cuisine (my favourite) and sophisticated fine dining with a very impressive sommelier. Most have waterside views and lots have hidden away tables for ultimate privacy.
