A recent study found that nearly half of the British population think that sunsets are best watched on a foreign beach - which means that too many of of us are missing out on some glorious views right on our doorsteps. Seeing a city skyline as the sun melts into the horizon can be one of life's true joys. All you need is some sunshine!

For one of the most beautiful sunset spots in London, head to this pretty neighbourhood that's a favourite with celebrities. The top of Primrose Hill offers dramatic views of London, where you can see landmarks like Canary Wharf and down into the zoo of Regent's Park. This seaside town is surrounded by water on three sides and despite being an east coast resort, Margate gets a spectacular west-facing sunset from its pier, Margate Harbour Arm.
