Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall to throw pre-wedding party on former royal yacht, Britannia

Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall are set to throw a glamorous pre-wedding bash on a former royal yacht the night before their nuptials.

The couple, who are marrying at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh on Saturday, are finalising plans for a spectacular private bash on the former royal yacht, Britannia.

Guests will include members of the Royal Family and some of England rugby captain Tindall's team mates.

Britannia was used by Zara's parents, the Princess Royal and Captain Mark Phillips, for their 1973 honeymoon.

It was decommissioned in 1997, and these days the vessel is berthed at Edinburgh's historic port of Leith and billed as Scotland's top visitor attraction.

And, despite it being the middle of tourist season, the boat will be closed to he public on Friday, the day of the party.

A source told the Daily Mail: 'Zara and Mike thought it would be rather special to throw a party on Britannia.

'It will be a private affair and a chance for those nearest and dearest to the happy couple to come together ahead of the wedding.'
