Zoe Saldana, star of Guardians of the Galaxy and Star Trek, is pregnant with her first baby.

The 36-year-old screen star's rep confirmed that Saldana is expecting a child with husband Marco Perego, an Italian artist.

Baby rumours which have been floating around showbiz blogs and magazines for a days, following speculation as to whether a baby bump was visible in snaps of Saldana at the Guardians of the Galaxy movie premiere on Monday (July 21).

Us Weekly magazine was the first to claim that the actress was pregnant, citing an unsubstantiated 'source'. Soon after, The Hollywood Reporter announced that Saldana's publicist had confirmed the baby news to them.

The actress has yet to make an official announcement, but she is no stranger to keep her private life closely guarded. In June, she and Marco were wed in a secret ceremony in London after a whirlwind romance which began following her breakup with fellow A-lister Bradley Cooper in January.

Saldana first shot to fame in the early 2000s in teen-friendly flicks like Get Over It and Crossroads, before landing major roles in J.J Abrams' Star Trek reboot and in 2009 monster hit Avatar.

She will next grace our screens playing Gamora in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, which arrives in the UK on July 31. However, unlike Marvel Avengers star Scarlett Johansson, Zoe's pregnancy doesn't seem to have affected filming of the blockbuster.

The actress has previously spoken of her eagerness to start a family, telling an interviewer in 2012: "I love the anxiety and the pressure of a loud room full of yapping kids. I'm like a kid myself so I get along very well with animals and children. I dig them. I get them."

Congratulations, Zoe!
