Saying Thank You to Unsung Heroes From Around Kent

Saying Thank You to Unsung Heroes From Around Kent

I've just returned from West Africa and had a wonderful break with lots of sunshine.

This week I'm really looking forward to our Safer Kent Awards event on Friday at Leeds Castle. It's not often that you get the chance to sit back and reflect on just how hard people work in the public sector and it's such a magnificent setting!

The Authority has been running the event for a number of years now and it has been harder than ever to find sponsorship. But we did come up trumps with BT, Southern Water, Kier Construction and Kent Peoples Trust who have kindly funded the evening's proceedings. Without out them it really would not have been possible to host the event.

We're expecting about 100 guests including our partner agencies, Medway Council and Kent County Council, and I'm really looking forward to it.

Last week the Authority visited the Dartford Grammar School for Boys. Authority staff and Member, Tom Gates, met with 12 - 15 year olds to find out their opinions on policing in Dartford.

The group were absolutely fantastic and really got involved giving lots of valuable feedback on what they wanted to see with the Olympics, a reduction in alcohol and tobacco sales and more police officers on the streets. It was a really good session and a big thank you to local PC Squire who came along as well.
