Darren Hall

Executive Director of Big Green Week, endlessly curious social and environmental entrepreneur

Currently standing as the Green Party Parliamentary Candidate for Bristol West, Darren grew up in Berkeley, Gloucestershire. Following a degree at Swansea University in Mechanical Engineering, Darren began his career as an RAF Engineering Officer and then spent 4 years in the aerospace industry. After completing an MBA with the Open University in 2000, he took a year off to travel. Darren returned to public service undertaking a number of different roles for the Home office including Regional Crime & Drugs Manager located in Bristol as part of Government Office for the South West. On leaving the civil service, Darren became the Manager of the Bristol Green Capital Partnership where he project managed the team that won the 2015 European Green Capital Award. He is now the Executive Director of Big Green Week CIC, which runs Europe’s largest festival of sustainability in Bristol in June each year.

Darren is the founding Director of www.thepaleblue.org social enterprise collective, and the founder and editor of Good Bristol magazine. He is a Board Member of the Bristol Community Land Trust, and Trustee of the Making Waves Foundation (http://www.themakingwavesfoundation.org). In his spare time Darren is a keen surfer and cyclist and lives in Southville, Bristol.
