Frankie Celenza

Cook / Presenter

Frankie grew up as a performer and has always loved to share his work. Writing and playing music came just before his life long obsession with photography and video editing. In 2001, while digging up his Italian-American family history and heritage, cooking and dining quickly became the central focus of his search. The realization that food is what brought families, cultures and the ages closer together since the beginning of time, was profound. Realizing that food was more than just sustenance, Frankie began working on an informative and entertaining video series. He knew he could combine his love of performance and creation with the history, myths and unifying nature of food, dining and cultural tradition.

In 2009 Frankie created "Frankie Cooks" a youtube series of recipe demonstrations created for the busy lifestyle. Frankie created personified ingredients, extreme graphics and music to capture the attention span of his peers in an exciting and different way. In 2010 he collaborated for the first time with his brother Luke, on a vision for a very sensual cooking show. Since one cannot taste or smell though the screen, Luke’s music would be composed according to onscreen actions. The result is visually and aurally very satisfying, and the closest a viewer will get to the actual physical and tactile experience of being present ‘in cucina.’

To date, they've created over 24hrs of content on YouTube and 19 half-hour shows that air on local New York City television. The shows have won 2 New York Emmy® Awards (Outstanding Informational/Instructional Series 2013, Outstanding Musical Composition 2014) in addition to three other nominations.

Frankie is always searching for new dishes and food stories.
