James Murphy is Managing Director of Southbank Sinfonia, the orchestra dedicated to helping outstanding graduate musicians excel. Nominated for a Royal Philharmonic Society Ensemble Award in 2017, the orchestra can be found at the heart of the National Theatre’s five-star hit Amadeus which has returned to the London stage after its first sell-out run and live worldwide cinema broadcast. James previously worked at the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and the Royal College of Music, and has commentated regularly on live TV broadcasts of the BBC Proms.
