Myleene Klass

TV presenter, musician, Save the Children ambassador and IF spokesperson

Myleene has joined Save the Children as a high profile Ambassador. Myleene is supporting the charity’s breakthrough campaign No Child Born to Die, aimed at saving the lives of the eight million children under five who die every year from preventable illnesses.

Myleene has travelled to see the charities work in impoverished parts of Bangladesh, meeting children and their families who are helped by Save the Children.

Speaking about her role, Myleene said “Having spent time meeting children who are in such desperate and sad positions, I feel enormously humbled to be an ambassador for Save the Children.”

“As a mother of two young children myself, I understand only too well that nothing in life is more important than the health and wellbeing of your children. I am honoured to be able to draw attention to the great work that Save the Children is doing every day to improve the lives of the most vulnerable children and their families across the world.”

Myleene will play an active role in the charity’s fight against the senseless waste of childrens’ lives that are lost each year to malnutrition and disease.

Musician, TV & radio presenter, designer, model and singer; Myleene Klass is one of the UK's most in demand and successful entertainers. From fronting primetime TV, to scoring No.1 albums and adorning billboards across the country, Myleene's achievements are quite staggering.

Since her arrival in the spotlight eight years ago, Myleene has presented numerous top rated primetime TV and radio shows, released three hit classical albums, designed her own range of baby clothes and fronted some of the UK's highest profile advertising campaigns. In 2009 she is the face of both high street giants Marks and Spencer and leading hair care brand Pantene. Myleene Klass began playing the piano and her grandfather's violin at age of four. She studied Voice at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she also added Harp to her repertoire. After completing her studies Myleene won a scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music where she later graduated. Work as a session musician and singer quickly followed, leading to Myleene's West End debut, joining the cast of 'Miss Saigon.'

Myleene was thrust into the spotlight in 2001 by the ITV1 phenomenon 'Popstars'. From thousands of singing hopefuls, Myleene was chosen to become one of five members of the controversial yet incredibly successful reality pop band, Hear'Say. Hear'Say's first single "Pure and Simple" entered the charts at No.1, going on to sell over 1 million copies. However, despite a string of hit singles and a nationwide sell out tour, the band split in late 2002 leaving Myleene to pursue a solo career.

In 2003, Myleene signed a solo deal with Universal Classics, releasing her debut solo classical album 'Moving On' soon after. Entering the classical charts at No.2, the album went on to break records in all genres, entering the popular charts amidst pop and rock artists.

Summer 2005 saw Myleene take on new challenges, focusing on her enthusiasm for television. Incredibly her first TV role was presenting the hit ITV1 Saturday morning music show 'cd:uk', an hour long, live pop show and a real baptism of fire! Myleene hosted the show for six consecutive months, interviewing a broad range of top music names from 50 Cent to Westlife. cd:uk made the TV industry sit up and take notice of Myleene's natural persona on screen, sending her presenting career spinning into orbit.

Then in November 2006, Myleene took on one of the biggest challenges of her life, spending three weeks in the Australian jungle as part of ITV1's massive show 'I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.' Myleene's natural charm and positive personality won over viewers of all ages, generating acres of press coverage in the process. In fact her bikini clad jungle showers made front page news nearly every day of the show!

After only one week on 'I'm A Celebrity…' Myleene became the most searched for celebrity from the show ever on internet search engine MSN, and the third most searched for celebrity overall in the world. By the last week of the show, Myleene became the No.1 most searched for celebrity in the world by UK users. The final show of the series saw Myleene crowned "Queen Of The Jungle" finishing in second place and firmly winning a place in the hearts of the nation. Fresh from her jungle success Myleene decided to auction her now legendary white bikini to raise money for the victims of collapsed Christmas savings firm Farepak. The bikini sold for a staggering £7,000 helping many families have a better Christmas in 2006.

Offers of work flooded in for Myleene post 'I'm A Celebrity…'. Presenting roles followed on ITV1's 'The X Factor' and BBC1's 'The People's Quiz' and 'The One Show'. 2007 then saw the launch of her own movie show on the prestigious worldwide channel CNN International. 'The Screening Room' has so far seen Myleene interview A List movie stars across the globe including Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Robert De Niro and Johnny Depp to name a few. In addition to her television roles, Myleene also landed a key radio job, presenting the Classic FM Breakfast show every Saturday and Sunday morning.

Myleene's natural charm on television caught the eye of the directors of massive UK retailer Marks and Spencer, who quickly signed her up to be the face of their 2007, 2008 and 2009 advertising campaigns. Myleene now adorns billboards and M&S windows across the country as well as appearing in their TV advertising campaign alongside such luminaries as Erin O'Connor and Twiggy.

July 2007 saw Myleene's return to world of music with a brand new deal with EMI Classics. Since signing the deal Myleene has released two albums 'Myleene's Music For Romance' and 'Myleene's Music For Mothers,' both of which reached No.1 in the classical charts. Myleene says: "The albums are about taking classical music to the masses and letting a new audience know that classical music doesn't have to be scary".

Following the birth of her beautiful baby girl Ava, Myleene returned to work in the autumn of 2007 to host her own ITV1 prime time show 'Saturday Night Divas', finishing off an extraordinary year hosting BBC1's live end of year show 'New Year Live'.

2008 kicked off with the release of Myleene's first book, a candid pregnancy diary 'My Bump and Me'. The book shot straight into the Top 10 bestseller charts the week after it hit shelves and remained there for many weeks. Shortly after, Myleene flew to Canada to host her debut show for the country, 'A Listers Unzippped', a fashion panel show with a twist. She followed this by presenting 'The Classical Brits' for ITV1, a personal career highlight. Later that Summer Myleene took over Saturday nights on BBC1 with the hit series 'Last Choir Standing'. Co-hosting with Nick Knowles, the show drew in big summer ratings for the channel.

Outside of her work, Myleene also supports several charities. As part of World Vision's 24 hour Famine Appeal, Myleene visited Sierra Leone in early 2006 to see how the charity was working to help villages build up their lives. She also works regularly with NCH The Children's Charity, fronting their important Stop Text Bully campaign. Myleene also visited Kabul in Afghanistan to present troops with a prize as part of the Daily Mirror's prestigious 'Pride Of Britain' awards.

In autumn 2008 Myleene added another talent to her already impressive CV, with the launch of her very own baby range 'Baby K,' available exclusively in Mothercare stores. The collection proved a massive success with record sales following the brand's London launch. So successful was the first collection that Myleene will release a much anticipated follow up in spring 2009.

January 2009 saw Myleene launch Pantene Pro V's 'Volume and Body collection.' She can be seen beautifully playing her own interpretation of Daft Punk's 'Aerodynamic' on the national TV ads, and is featured in a series of gorgeous print and billboard adverts across the UK. February sees her return to primetime TV with Channel 4's '10 Years Younger: The Challenge'. The programme, where two women go head to head each week with one goal - to look younger, is already proving a ratings winner, cementing Myleene's status as one of UK TV's biggest draws.

With her exotic looks (her mother is Filipino, her father Austrian/English), her extraordinary talent, and her passion for the entertainment industry, Myleene is a girl made more articulate and feisty by her experiences. One thing is for certain, we are going to be hearing a lot more from this eloquent young woman for many years to come.
