Ruhan Fourie

PhD candidate in history at the International Studies Group at the University of the Free State

Ruhan Fourie is a PhD candidate in history at the International Studies Group at the University of the Free State, researching the role of the Dutch Reformed Church in creating anti-communist sentiment during the rise of Afrikaner nationalism and apartheid. He is a fresh import from Stellenbosch where he just finished his MA thesis on the formation of Beyers Naudé. Because of this research, he was involved in a range of reconciliation projects within the structure of the Dutch Reformed Church. With his research Ruhan attempts to fall within the field of Afrikaner revisionist history, writing a more honest and non-ideological account of the past.
