Campaigns and Policy Director at War on Want

Ruth Tanner is Campaigns and Policy Director at War on Want. War on Want fights poverty in developing countries in partnership with people affected by globalisation and campaigns for human rights and against the root causes of global poverty, inequality and injustice. Ruth has overseen its campaign to stop the privatisation of war and for government controls over the private military and security industry. This includes the briefing Getting Away with Murder – a sequel to the charity’s report Corporate Mercenaries – which exposed the growing privatisation of war. Before joining War on Want Ruth worked at the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, for a Member of Parliament and lived and worked in Ethiopia.
