Tony Baldry

Conservative Member of Parliament for North Oxfordshire

Sir Tony has been Member of Parliament for North Oxfordshire for 30 years. He has held various ministerial posts over the years, serving as Minister of State in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food from 1995-97. He was Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Department of Energy (1990), Department of the Environment (1990-1994) and Foreign and Commonwealth Office (1994-95).

At the last General Election, Sir Tony was appointed Second Church Estates Commissioner, a role which sees him have responsibility for answering questions in the House in a manner similar to questions to Ministers on the work of the Church Commissioners. He is also a member of a number of All-Party Parliamentary Groups, and is Chair of the British-Italian Parliamentary Group and co-Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Carers.

He was Knighted for political and public service in the Queen's Birthday Honours in 2012 and was appointed a member of the Privy Council in November 2013.
