Rap Artist Recounts The Murder Of His Step-Dad On New Single

South East London UK artist Konan, one half of the popular rap duo, Krept And Konan has poured out his heart on his new single 'My Story' by recounting the fatal night his step-father, Carlton Ned was murdered in their own home.

Konan, real name Karl Wilson, along with his partner in rhyme Krept, released the accompanying music video last Sunday 4th August 2013 via YouTube and in 24 hours had already reached over 60,000 views.

Krept And Konan, hailed as two of the most exciting UK rappers, use their witty metaphors, punchlines and tales of their youthful lifestyle to connect with their legions of young supporters through their songs. The new single, however takes a more serious tone by Konan rapping on the horror that unfolded on July 1 2011 when 2 masked men burst into the family home with the intention of harming him. Carlton Ned, 41, step-father to Konan was shot in the chest and killed trying to protect Konan and his mother from the fleeing gunmen.

This week on Monday 5th August 2013, a day after the release of the video, the accused gunman, Christopher Thomas, 22, was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder.

Konan tweeted:

"Let me tell you why God works in mysterious ways I put out the video to #mystory yesterday and the verdict for the whole case was today, My mum just message me and said the boy who done it got 35 years just now in court its mad how things work out i cnt even believe it"

The hard task of Karl Wilson not taking actions into his own hands and instead releasing his emotions through music has gathered praise from other artists, former gang members and the groups fans. Following on from the success of Krept And Konan's last mixtape 'Tsunami' which reached No.2 in the iTunes Hip Hop chart, their forthcoming offering 'Young Kingz' is expected to reach even greater heights.

'My Story' is out on 2nd September 2013.
