86-Year-Old Man Facing Court After Wife Shot Dead At Care Home

A pensioner is due to appear in court accused of shooting dead his wife at a care home.

Ronald King, 86, was charged with murder after Rita King, 81, was killed at De La Mer House in Naze Park Road, Walton-on-the-Naze, Essex, on December 28.

Care home staff said Mrs King was suffering from dementia.

King, of Cedar Close, Walton-on-the-Naze, will appear at Chelmsford Crown Court where he might be asked to enter a plea.

At an earlier hearing King, who has been remanded in custody, looked frail as he stumbled and had to be supported by a dock officer as he was led from court.
